Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar

In a shocking incident arising out of a property dispute, two brothers and a sister-in-law allegedly entered their sister’s house and attempted to strangulate her to force her to relinquish her share in ancestral property.

A case was registered on April 23 at Satara police station against Sunita Vinod Pawar, Vinod Pawar and Vijay Pawar (all residents of Vijaynagar). Savita Chavan (38) resides with her family in Laxmi Colony in the Satara area. Her husband is a head constable posted at Bidkin police station. According to her complaint, disputes over ancestral property have been ongoing following the demise of their parents. On April 20 evening, when Savita was alone at home, her sister-in-law Sunita and brothers Vinod and Vijay allegedly came to her house and picked up a quarrel. They allegedly tried to strangulate her and threatened her to give up her inheritance rights. Savita managed to push Sunita aside, shut the door and called the police helpline 112 seeking assistance. Police reached the spot and took the accused to the police station. She later lodged a formal complaint on April 23. Police sub-inspector Dilip Bachate is conducting further investigation.
