Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: “Complete changes in the present cropping system are not possible, but climate-resilient small changes in the present cropping system of the farmer can lead to a profitable, suitable cropping system,” said Dr Indra Mani, Vice Chancellor, Vasantrao Naik Marathwada Agriculture University (VNMAU), Parbhani.
He was speaking at a programme organised in the city recently, jointly by the Department of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Government of India, and the AICRP on Integrated Farming System, Parbhani.
Dr Indra Mani emphasised the importance of farmer participatory action research that can lead to better acceptance of the scientific interventions in farming.
Superintendent of Agriculture Officer, Prakash Deshmukh, gave the details of present and past cropping systems in the district.
Director of Extension Dr Rakesh Ahire, Extension Agronomist Dr S. B. Pawar, Prakash Patil, Agriculture Development Officer, ZP, were present.
Dr K. T. Jadhav (Chief Agronomist, IFS) mentioned the major feedback of the farmers.
