A headmaster was injured after losing control of his speeding car, which plunged nearly 20 feet into an irrigation ditch near Mahalakinhola on Saturday around 1 pm. Fortunately, the driver survived as the airbags deployed in time.

The injured driver has been identified as Devidas Chitale (40, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar). He works as a headmaster at an educational institution in the city. Chitale was travelling from Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar to Sillod in his car (MH-20 GE 0810) when he suddenly lost control of the vehicle in the Mahalakinhol area. The car veered off the highway and fell into a 20-foot-deep ditch. Passersby and motorists on the highway rushed to help and rescued the injured driver from the vehicle. He was later shifted by an Aaland ambulance to a hospital in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar for treatment. Officials said the airbags deployed immediately after the crash, preventing serious injuries. However, the car suffered major damage in the accident.
