A speeding car’s abrupt halt led to a fatal accident, killing 48-year-old man after his motorcycle crashed into the vehicle. Jawaharnagar police have booked the car’s driver, Amit Sitaram (Millennium Park, Chikalthana).

The deceased has been identified as Santosh Deepchand Sonawane. Sonawane, a hotel worker from Ramnagar, was riding towards Konkanwadi with his wife on February 28 around 9 pm when the accident occurred near SFS School. The sudden stop of the speeding car left Sonawane with no time to react, causing a direct collision. He suffered critical injuries and was rushed to a private hospital by the driver, who identified himself as Amit Kumar before fleeing. Sonawane was later transferred to GMCH, where he succumbed to his injuries during treatment. Police have registered a case and are investigating the matter. PSI Prashant Munde is leading the probe.
