A youth was stabbed in the stomach and robbed of Rs 10,000 after he refused to give money for liquor in an incident reported around 8 pm on February 4 near the Government Medical College and Hospital workers’ residential area.

The injured, Aniket Ragde (22) of Jaybhimnagar, was walking from the GMCH area towards Jaybhimnagar when the accused, Uttam Aitale, stopped him and demanded money. After Aniket said he had none, the accused followed him, assaulted him, stabbed him with a sharp knife, and fled with Rs 10,000 from his pocket. Aniket collapsed on the road and was rushed to GMCH by his family with the help of locals. He suffered a serious stomach injury and required stitches. A case has been registered against Uttam at Begumpura police station. Police said the accused has two prior criminal cases registered in 2021 and 2024.
