The Anti-Corruption Bureau on Monday caught authorised stamp vendor S. M. Bansode (70) red-handed for demanding money above the government rate.

The complainant had earlier bought stamps worth Rs 700 for Rs 770 from Bansode. On Monday, when he sought ten Rs 500 stamp papers worth Rs 5,000, Bansode allegedly demanded Rs 5,500. After the complainant approached the ACB, a trap was laid near the vendor’s shop in Gangapur. Bansode was caught while accepting Rs 5,500, which was seized by officials. The operation was conducted under the guidance of SP Madhuri Kedar-Kangne and additional SP Shashikant Singare, with action led by PI Sharadchandra Rodge. A case was being registered at Gangapur Police Station.
