Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar:
Standing Committee chairman Anil Makariye presented the budget before the general body on Tuesday. In it, he allocated crores of rupees to four corporators from BJP prabhags, while corporators from AIMIM and the Uddhav Sena were given a very meagre share. This has triggered discontent among opposition corporators. Attention is now focused on whether the Mayor will increase the allocations for those who received less funding.
The municipal administration had submitted the budget to the Standing Committee chairman last week. He increased it by Rs 130 crore. Corporators Raju Vaidya, Pramod Rathod, Tryambak Tupe and Rashid Mamu demanded time to study the budget presented by the chairman. Assuring that a separate meeting would be held to discuss the budget, the Mayor adjourned the session.
The municipal administration had originally presented a budget estimate of Rs 3,224.90 crore. Anil Makariye increased it by Rs 130 crore, taking the total budget to Rs 3,354.37 crore.
Rs 3.20 crore for BJP–Shiv Sena
Each BJP–Shiv Sena corporator will receive Rs 80 lakh in funds — Rs 25 lakh from the administration, Rs 50 lakh from the Standing Committee, and Rs 5 lakh as discretionary funds. Each Standing Committee member has been allocated Rs 1.30 crore.
Corporators Amit Bhuigal and Afsar Khan from the Vanchit Bahujan Aghadi have been allocated Rs 1.30 crore each, while a woman member has been given Rs 80 lakh.
Each AIMIM corporator will receive Rs 35 lakh, comprising Rs 25 lakh from the administration, Rs 5 lakh from the Standing Committee, and Rs 5 lakh as discretionary funds. Three Standing Committee members will receive Rs 80 lakh each.
Five corporators from the Uddhav Sena have been allocated Rs 55 lakh each. Standing Committee member Sachin Khaire has received Rs 80 lakh.
Leader of opposition warns of legal action
Leader of the Opposition in municipal corporation Abdul Sameer said that the budget presented by the standing committee chairman violates rules. He said that members were not even provided with copies of the budget document. He demanded that the budget be redrafted, warning that otherwise he would approach the court.
