The city is set to add another feather to its cap with the upcoming unveiling of the state’s largest 16-foot bronze statue of Mahatma Basaveshwar. After years of anticipation, preparations for this historic event have gained momentum, with a primary planning meeting held at Vishwaroop Hall in Jyoti Nagar on Sunday.

Key highlights of the meeting:

• Historic vision: Members resolved to make the event unprecedented and memorable.

• Unity under one banner: All Lingayat community members will organise the event collectively under the banner of Sakal Lingayat Samaj, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar.

• Mass participation: Around 50,000 members from across Marathwada are expected to attend the divisional-level ceremony.

• Collective pledge: Attendees vowed to work with unity and dedication to ensure the success of the event.

The 5 pm meeting saw participation from senior leaders, youth, and organisation representatives, with organisers expressing confidence that the event will reflect Basaveshwar’s ideals in a grand manner. The unveiling is expected to witness a rare confluence of devotion and collective strength. Dates and chief guests will be announced soon.
