Aurangabad, June 16:

Asha activists and Anganwadi staff have been on strike for two days for their various demands, leading to collapse of health services in Waluj.

Nominal honorarium is paid to Asha workers. Covid works were carried out by Asha activists and workers without benefit of insurance cover and other facilities during the corona period. Asha workers have been on strike since Tuesday demanding inclusion of Asha workers in government service, implementation of social security, pension and mediclaim schemes and minimum wage. There are 102 Asha workers working under Jikthan primary health center in Waluj and 70 under Daulatabad primary health center. With Asha workers on strike, the health department is constantly struggling to provide health services. Work of registration of pregnant women, immunization of young children, survey of traders for vaccination after unlock have been delayed. Asha activists work shoulder to shoulder with doctors, health workers and health workers of the health department to provide health services in rural areas. The Asha workers demanded that the government should accept their demands as soon as possible.
