The Supreme Court on February 20, 2026, issued notices to the Maharashtra Government and Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar Municipal Corporation over the Beed Bypass road widening and land acquisition dispute, with the next SLP hearing scheduled for April 10, 2026.

As per the 1991 Development Plan, the bypass width was proposed to be doubled from 30 to 60 metres, leading to demolition of structures in 2019, including those owned by Javed Khan Patel and others. The Bombay High Court's Aurangabad Bench dismissed their petition, terming the constructions unauthorised. Petitioners counter that since Satara village was merged into municipal limits only in 2015, the structures built in 1990 under Gram Panchayat permission cannot legally be declared unauthorised. On compensation, petitioners contend that while land for the original 30-metre width was acquired in 1986, no compensation has been paid for the additional 30 metres added under the revised plan, and have demanded the same. The SLP was filed by adv Sagar Nandkishor Pahune Patil on behalf of Javed Patel, with senior advocate Sudhanshu Chaudhary arguing the case. The Supreme Court's ruling will be significant for landowners' rights, development plan implementation, and land acquisition compensation.
