Crime in the city has risen sharply at night, leaving both private homes and commercial establishments vulnerable. In Balajinagar, thieves broke into a house belonging to a family that had gone to their village, stealing items worth approximately Rs 2.22 lakh. Meanwhile, in Pandariba, a clothing shop was targeted, with thieves making off with 239 sarees and other garments worth over Rs 2.38 lakh.

The victims, Sudhakar Kathar and his family, had left for their village on March 7. On the morning of March 8, they discovered the main door of their house broken. Among the stolen items were a 25-gram Lakshmi idol, ten 100-gram silver coins, 150 grams of silver jewellery, a 6-gram gold ring, a 9-gram mangalsutra, 1.5 grams of earrings, 7 grams of jhumkas, and ₹90,000 in cash. Jawaharnagar police inspector Sachin Kumbhar inspected the site, with assistant sub-inspector Ramesh Jadhav conducting the investigation.
Pandariba shop targeted using loading rickshaw
In Pandariba, the thieves forced open the shop shutter of Omprakash Vaishnav’s clothing store around 2.53 am and stole 239 sarees and other garments worth Rs 2.38 lakh. Remarkably, a single thief even arranged a loading rickshaw to carry the stolen goods. City Chowk Police are currently investigating the case.
