The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Tuesday trapped Prashant Devgaya (34), talathi of Kelgaon, Sillod tehsil, while allegedly accepting Rs 5,000 as bribe for approving a land mutation entry.

The complainant had purchased one guntha of land (Survey No. 551, Kelgaon) in his wife’s name on January 5, 2026 (Sale Deed No. 67). For updating the 7/12 extract, the accused allegedly demanded Rs 7,000 and later agreed to accept Rs 5,000. The complaint was lodged on April 8. After verification in the presence of two panch witnesses, a trap was laid. The accused called the complainant to Bharadi and later to Borgaon Bazar, where he accepted Rs 5,000. The tainted amount was recovered from him, along with Rs 400 personal cash and a Realme mobile phone, which has been seized for analysis. A house search is underway. A case registered at the Sillod Rural police station. The accused has been detained and will be formally arrested after registration of the offence. The trap was conducted by police inspector Keshav Dinde.
