After a dip in temperatures due to unseasonal rains at the end of March, the mercury has started rising again in the city and surrounding areas. Over the past two days, temperatures have shown an upward trend.
On Friday, the maximum temperature was recorded at 37.9°C, while the minimum stood at 23°C. Between March 31 and April 9, temperatures had remained in the range of 32°C to 35°C. With the rise on Friday, residents felt the heat intensifying once again.
The Meteorological Department has forecast a further increase in temperatures over the next four weeks, with the mercury likely to touch 42°C.
