Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar:

The state-level one-act play competition ‘Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj Karandak’, which adds to the city’s cultural vibrancy, was recently concluded. In this prestigious competition, the one-act play The Last Battle, presented by the student development board of Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University, secured the first position with its outstanding performance.

During the prize distribution ceremony, deputy mayor Rajendra Janjal announced that from next year, the first prize of the competition will be increased to Rs 2 lakh. He also announced that a separate grand one-act play competition would be organised on the occasion of deputy chief minister Eknath Shinde’s birthday.

The competition, conceptualised by municipal commissioner G. Sreekanth, was organised under the guidance of additional commissioner Ranjeet Patil, Kalpita Pimpale, Santosh Vahule and deputy commissioner Lakhichand Chavan. The event, held from February 16 to 18, witnessed impressive theatrical performances. Judges Dr Sheshrao Pathade, actress Shobha Dandge, director Datta Jadhav and Dr Preshit Rudrawar evaluated the performances. Winners were awarded Rs 31,000, a trophy and certificates.

Best Actor – First: Siddheshwar Thorat; Second: Harshal Patil; Third: Ganesh Mundhe

Best Actress – First: Ketaki Jadi; Second: Pranjal Suradkar; Third: Yakshada Joshi

Best Make-up – First: Kavita Divekar, Sadhana Vitore; Second: Rasika Bhatkhedkar; Third: Kavita Divekar

Best Costume – First: Kavita Divekar; Second: Bujgawana; Third: Sameer Bhuigad
