Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar:

Four shops located in the Nupur Cinema Complex on Jalna Road were broken into by thieves on Monday midnight. This incident has created panic among shopkeepers, and it also highlights the increasing audacity of petty criminals. In recent days, incidents of house break-ins, thefts, and chain-snatching have increased significantly. Now, with shops on Jalna Road being directly targeted, an atmosphere of fear has spread among traders. A case has been registered in the Cidco police station in connection with the incident.

According to the complaint filed by Advocate Satish Gajare at the Cidco police station, Shop No. 1 in the Nupur Cinema Complex houses Sunil Agrawal’s travels and the complainant’s legal office. On May 4, they closed the office at around 7 pm and went home. On Tuesday morning, a friend called to inform them that the office lock had been broken. Upon reaching the office, they found the shutter damaged. It was also discovered that the lock of the cabin had been broken and Rs 2,000 kept in a drawer had been stolen.

In addition, Shop No. 7 owned by Dr. Ramesh Jain, housing realtors office, was also broken into, and Rs 55,000 in cash was stolen, as mentioned in the complaint. Other shops in the same complex, including the office of the caterers and the travels, were also broken into. However, nothing was reportedly stolen from these shops, and therefore they did not file complaints, according to the Cidco police.

Investigation underway using CCTV footage

Police in the city are also puzzled by the break-ins at shops in the Jalna Road complex. Efforts are underway to trace the accused with the help of CCTV footage. Meanwhile, traders have reported that individuals under the influence of intoxicants are frequently seen loitering in the area late at night.
