Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar:

Accusing irregularities in the vote-counting process of Prabhag 24 in the municipal corporation elections, thousands of citizens held a massive protest in Sanjaynagar on January 26, demanding justice.

The protest, organised by the Vanchit Bahujan Aghadi (VBA), saw significant participation from women. During the demonstration, citizens symbolically hanged an EVM machine and an effigy of MLA Narayan Kuche, expressing their strong protest. Women at the protest draped shoes over these symbolic effigies to show their anger.

The protest was held in support of VBA’s Prabhag 24 candidate, Satish Gaikwad. Slogans shouted demanding removal of EVM machines to save the nation and against MLA Kuche resonated throughout Sanjaynagar.

Satish Gaikwad has now initiated a legal battle against the alleged defeat, and all eyes are on how the administration responds to the public’s demand for justice.

A notable aspect of the protest was the participation of women with newborns and toddlers, highlighting widespread public engagement. The protest on Republic Day, a national festival, has sparked intense discussion in the city’s political circles.
