Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar:

Vijay Gowda G.C., who had earlier worked under Deelip Swami during his probation period when Swami was serving as additional commissioner at the Nashik Divisional Commissionerate, formally took charge as district collector from outgoing collector Deelip Swami on Friday.

Outgoing collector Swami stated that several tasks still remain incomplete, while newly appointed collector Vijay Gowda G.C. remarked that there are many challenges ahead and that he will work with coordination to address them.

Gowda assumed office at 1 pm, and was welcomed by outgoing collector Swami.

Later, while interacting with the media, Gowda said he would focus on sectors such as education, healthcare, and tourism development, aiming for the district’s overall progress.

Present on the occasion were resident deputy collector Janardan Vidhate, deputy collectors Sangeeta Rathod and Rupesh Singare, sub-divisional officer Santosh Gorad, municipal administration department’s assistant commissioner Saurabh Joshi, assistant commissioner Rishikesh Bhalerao, among others.

Focus on industry, tourism, healthcare, and education...

“This district holds cultural, historical, and tourism significance. Along with boosting tourism, we aim to promote education, healthcare, livelihood initiatives, and employment-oriented development. We will prioritise overall growth by working across various sectors. I was due to visit here for official work, and with the transfer, the opportunity to join also aligned,” said district collector, Vijay Gowda G.C.

Made administration more people-centric...

“The experience of working in the district has been very fulfilling. Despite a prolonged election period, we were able to carry out development work on a large scale. There is still much left to be done. We also worked on issues like prevention of child marriage and pre-natal sex determination. We focused on making the administration more people-centric. I didn’t even realise how the 2 years and 2 months passed,” said outgoing district collector, Deelip Swami.
