Aurangabad, Dec 28:

The State Government asked the Town Planning Department of Aurangabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) which is responsible for TDR scam to remove shortcomings from TDR.

It may be noted that the TDR scam surfaced four years ago. The then AMC commission Omprakash Bakoriya started an enquiry into the scam.

Omprakash Bakoriya suspended assistant director of Town Planning Department D P Kulkarni, deputy engineer Ramteke and branch engineer R P Waghmare.

The then MLA Imtiaz Jaleel too had raised the point of scam in State Assembly. The Government announced setting up a higher-level committee to probe the matter. After some time the panel led by joint director of the department Kawle was formed.

The panel submitted its report a few months ago, but, it was not made public yet, nor any action was taken. The government directed the Town Planning Department to remove shortcomings from 221 TDRs. According to sources, the officers of the department are busy correcting files of TDR case for the past 15 days.

The Civic Body started issuing TDR since 2008 against acquired land. Some TDRs were issued when there was no need for land acquiring. In other cases, TDRs were given without acquiring land.
