Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar

In a checking drive conducted by the Nanded Division of South Central Railway in January, a total of 21,724 ticketless passengers were penalised and fines worth Rs 1.25 crore were collected. Compared to January 2025, fine collection increased by 15 per cent this year.

The checking drive was carried out on the Adilabad–Nanded, Parbhani–Parli, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar–Manmad routes and other lines in the division. A total of 219 ticket checking staff were deployed during the month, including 34 squad staff, 167 on-board (amenity) staff, and 18 stationary staff. Under the drive, 15 surprise and night-time checks were conducted, with RPF personnel assisting in select inspections. Senior Divisional Manager (Commerse) Dr Vijay Krushna stated that this checking drive is not merely to penalise irregular passengers, but is conducted to ensure a comfortable journey for honest ticket-buying passengers and to protect railway revenue. Passengers are urged to travel with valid tickets.
