Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar

A triple accident at 11 am on Saturday on the Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar–Jalgaon highway led to massive traffic congestion in the world-famous Ajanta Ghat for the second consecutive day, leaving tourists, students and ambulances stranded for hours.

A container (RJ-11-GB-8753) rammed into a car (MH-20-FY-9239) and a tempo (MH-28-AH-6410), severely damaging the car. Dr Prashant Darakh, his elder brother and relatives were travelling in it but escaped unhurt. Traffic worsened after an Eicher truck (MP-41-GA-0721) broke down due to a technical fault. In the intense heat, children and elderly passengers suffered without water. Many vehicles diverted via Soygaon–Halda and Buldhana routes, causing financial losses to motorists and traders as goods carriers remained stuck in the jam.
