An Eicher truck carrying fair materials from Kannad to Chalisgaon overturned near the Mhasoba temple in Gautala Ghat around 3.30 pm on Monday. The accident occurred after the driver lost control while attempting to avoid potholes on the road.

The truck (MH-20-CI-6172) was travelling through Gautala Ghat via Nagda towards Chalisgaon when it went out of control due to the poor condition of the road. The driver, Aba Nana Chavan (Chaudhary Wada, Chalisgaon), saved his life by jumping out of the vehicle in time. On receiving information, Kannad Rural police personnel Pradeep Pawar and Ravindra Thakur rushed to the spot. The driver was given primary treatment and later sent home. Meanwhile, the Kannad–Nagda–Gautala Ghat stretch has become a major concern for motorists due to severe potholes. Just a fortnight ago, a vehicle carrying sugarcane workers overturned at the same spot, injuring several people. Drivers say navigating the stretch has become a risky ordeal due to the worsening road condition.
