Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar
A truck got stuck in the iron height barrier at the Shivajinagar underpass on Sunday evening, leading to a major traffic jam for nearly two-and-a-half hours. The vehicle, carrying publicity material for a government scheme of the Other Backward Bahujan Welfare Department, got wedged at the Deolai Chowk end around 5:30 pm.
As the truck could not be moved despite several attempts, traffic inside the underpass was forced to reverse, and movement from Shivajinagar towards Deolai remained completely shut for hours. Commuters were diverted via the Sangramnagar flyover, causing significant inconvenience. A large crowd gathered at the spot as efforts continued to remove the vehicle. The truck (MH-25 P-3301), which had departed from a government office in the Garkheda area based on map directions, was heading towards Beed Bypass when it got stuck in the iron frame at Deolai Chowk. Attempts such as deflating tyres and cutting the upper iron rods failed to free it. Finally, a JCB was called, and after multiple efforts, the truck was pulled out. The underpass remained closed from both sides until the operation was completed.

Lack of height barrier at Shivajinagar end causing repeated incidents
Vehicles taller than 3.4 metres are prohibited from using the underpass, and iron height barriers are installed on both sides. However, the barrier on the Shivajinagar side has been missing since an accident some time ago. As a result, tall vehicles frequently enter and get stuck at the Deolai end, leading to repeated disruptions.
