Two men have been booked for allegedly misusing the Dial 112 emergency service by giving false information about an assault and firing incident, triggering an unnecessary police response

According to the complaint filed by police constable Prakash Wagh (42), who was on night duty with the 112 mobile unit, a call was received on the MDT system at around 12.30 am on Saturday. The caller, Sonu alias Pushpak Jadhav (24, Raju Gandhi Chowk, Gangapur), claimed that he had been assaulted and shot at near Rajneeti Hotel in Bajajnagar. He was accompanied by Amol Ganar (35, Mudeshwadgaon, Gangapur). Acting swiftly, police rushed to the spot. However, no incident of assault or firing was found to have occurred at or around the hotel premises. No suspicious material was recovered from the area, confirming that the information was false. Both individuals were taken into custody and brought to the police station, and the control room was informed. A case has been registered at MIDC Waluj police station for providing false information and misleading the police.
