Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar

City Chowk police have registered a fraud case against two persons for allegedly cheating a businessman of Rs 50 lakh by promising to sell a 5-guntha plot in the Himayatnagar area.

The accused have been identified as Sheikh Irfan(Salman Hall, Delhi Gate), and Shaikh Jameel Rasool (Rauzabaugh). According to the complaint filed by Akram Khan (Kabadipura, Buddihiline), and a plot and vehicle dealer, Shaikh Irfan offered to sell him the land in March 2025 for Rs 60 lakh. The accused allegedly claimed that the plot had been purchased in the name of Shaikh Jameel in 2024. As per the agreement, the complainant paid Rs 50 lakh through various modes after the accused executed a GPA in his favour, with the assurance that possession would be handed over and the final sale deed executed after payment of the remaining amount. However, despite repeated follow-ups, the accused allegedly failed to execute the sale deed. Police sub-inspector Bhagwat Muthal is investigating the case. Police said the accused duo has also allegedly cheated several others in separate cases involving crores of rupees and are currently lodged in jail after being arrested earlier by the economic offences wing.
