Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar

A sessions court sentenced Sagar Ratnaparkhe ( Naikwada, Motikaranja) and Vishal More (Sabjimandi) to three years of rigorous imprisonment for attacking a shopkeeper with an axe over a pending TV instalment payment. Sessions Judge N.M. Jamadar also imposed a fine of Rs 2,000 on each convict.

The case stemmed from a complaint by Sandeep Gokul Hivale, a shopkeeper from Rahul Nagar, who sold a television on an instalment basis to Ratnaparkhe through an acquaintance, Amit Suradkar. Despite owing Rs 6,700, Ratnaparkhe ignored repeated payment reminders.

On January 16, 2020, Hivale and Suradkar arranged to meet Ratnaparkhe at Paithan Gate for the payment. Instead of settling the dues, Ratnaparkhe abused Hivale and attacked him with an axe, attempting to kill him. More assisted by restraining Hivale, but two bystanders intervened and saved the victim. A case was registered at Kranti Chowk police station.
