Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar

Two police officers from Mantha Police Station, Jalna district, were caught demanding and accepting a bribe in a case registered by the Anti-Corruption Department on Friday.

The accused have been identified as Manoj Rathod (Police Inspector) and Ravi Jadhav (Police Constable), both of Mantha Police Station, along with one unknown accomplice. According to the complaint, the accused demanded a monthly bribe of Rs 50,000 on Thursday to avoid action on the complainant’s sand transport hyva. The complainant paid Rs 10,000 that night, refusing to pay the remaining Rs 40,000, and reported the matter to the Anti-Corruption Department, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar. During verification in the presence of government witnesses, Ravi Jadhav accepted Rs 30,000 as part of the bribe in a trap operation conducted at Mantha Police Station. Both accused were taken into custody, and a formal case has been registered. Evidence, including cash and a Samsung mobile, was seized and is under analysis.
