Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar

Two Rajasthani labourers who had come for furniture work at a farmhouse drowned in a farm pond on Monday around 4 pm in Mharola Shivara.

The deceased have been identified as Ramkishore Jangid (28, Shenshada, Nagaur district, Rajasthan) and Pralhad Puri (30, Ramgarh, Nagaur district, Pundlota, Rajasthan), both currently residing at Beed Bypass, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar. At farm plot number 206 in Mharola Shivara, Paithan taluka, furniture work was being carried out at the farmhouse of landowner Nandkishore Jayaram Pawane under contractor Vinod Jangid. Ramkishore and Pralhad had been working there for the past four days. On Monday afternoon, due to a power outage, they entered the nearby farm pond for a swim. When they did not return for a long time, a security guard searched for them and found their clothes near the pond’s edge.

The guard immediately informed farm owner Nandkishore Pawane, who then alerted contractor Jangid. Soon, the workers' relatives and the contractor reached the scene and informed the Bidkin police. API Nilesh Shelke, along with his team, arrived at the location and, with the help of the fire brigade, retrieved both bodies from the water. They were then taken to the rural hospital in Bidkin. Further investigation is being conducted by the Bidkin police.
