Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar

A woman’s mangalsutra was snatched by an unidentified two-wheeler rider in the Cidco Mahanagar area, Waluj on Thursday night. A case has been registered at the MIDC Waluj police station.

According to police, complainant Kamini Chevar (36, Devgirinagar, Cidco Mahanagar-1) was walking with her husband around 10 pm from Panyachi Taki to Shivaji Chowk Road when the accused approached from behind on a motorcycle and suddenly snatched her five-gram gold mangalsutra worth Rs 66,400 before fleeing. PSI Suresh Sangale is investigating the case. Police are scanning CCTV footage to trace the accused. Rising chain-snatching incidents have created fear among residents, who have demanded increased night patrolling to curb such crimes.
