Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar:

A committee has been appointed to decide whether the upcoming summer examinations for undergraduate and postgraduate courses will be conducted at the same time. Measures will also be taken to ensure copy-free and transparent examinations and faster declaration of results, informed director of examinations Dr B. N. Dole.

A meeting of the examination and evaluation board of Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University was held on Friday under the chairmanship of vice-chancellor Dr Vijay Fulari. Discussions were held on 17 subjects, which received approval.

To ensure a copy-free environment during the summer examinations for various undergraduate, diploma, postgraduate and other courses scheduled in March–April, external supervisors will be appointed at every examination centre. District-wise flying squads will also be formed to conduct surprise visits to centres. A principal from each of the four districts will be appointed as district coordinator to oversee examination arrangements and the declaration of results. A committee has also been formed to finalise the examination schedule.

The board also approved recommendations made by a committee headed by dean Dr Mahendra Shirsat to restructure existing honorarium payments related to examinations. Proposals regarding the appointment of a design committee and the introduction of blockchain-based verification for degree certificates were also approved. The proposal to issue bilingual degree certificates in English and Marathi has also received approval.

On-screen marking system to be introduced

The board also approved a proposal to introduce an On-Screen Marking System (OSM) for answer sheet evaluation. Under this system, student-specific barcode stickers will be used. Blank answer sheets will carry a static page barcode printed on every page, including the first and last pages, which will contain the answer sheet number.

Assistant registrars from the examination department, including Bhagwan Phad, Rajendra Gangurde, Mahendra Paithane and Haridas Khude, assisted in organising the meeting.
