Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: union Minister for Social Justice and Empowerment, Virendra Kumar Khatik, on Tuesday visited the Muktai De-addiction Centre in the Osmanpura area of the city to witness firsthand the journey of patients moving from the darkness of addiction toward a new life.

He reviewed the de-addiction, counselling, and rehabilitation activities carried out at the centre. He also learned about the treatment processes for patients and the skill development initiatives aimed at making them self-reliant.

The minister remarked that the centre is not just a place for treatment, but a transformative space that gives individuals a new life and motivates them to stand in society with dignity. Founder President Dr Sunil Nagargoje, BJP leader Pravin Ghuge and others were present.

Enquiry about treatment?

Interacting with patients, Khatik inquired about the type of addiction, duration of treatment, and their personal experiences. He emphasised that de-addiction is a crucial public health issue and expressed confidence that a “drug-free society” can be achieved only through joint efforts of the government and society.
