Aurangabad, March 26:

The university administration is in a dilemma regarding holding the convocation ceremony due to the increasing prevalence of Covid-19. The ceremony was scheduled to take place by the end of April. However, as it unknown when the corona infection will subdue, there is uncertainty over the convocation ceremony.

Some universities in the state have conducted online convocation ceremonies. However, as there was a decline in covid cases, the university administration decided to hold the convocation ceremony with limited attendees. The ceremony was scheduled for the end of April. Names of scientist and Padma Vibhushan Raghunath Mashalkar, Dr Vijay Bhatkar, father of India's first supercomputer and K Kasturirangan were proposed as the chief guest for the function in the meeting of the management council. It was decided to invite those who could attend the event. Accordingly, the examination department has recently sent an invitation to scientist Raghunath Mashalkar. However, his consent has not yet been obtained. But corona infections have been on the rise since the first week of March, with more than a thousand patients being found in Aurangabad every day. The university administration will take the next decision on whether the ceremony can be held offline or online, depending on the role of local administration in this regard.

Attention towards the government decision

Pro vice-chancellor Dr Shyam Shirsath said, "We are keeping an eye on the guidelines coming from the government regarding the growing number of corona patients. The management council had decided to hold the convocation at the end of April. However, in the current context, it is not possible to say when and how the ceremony will be held."
