Aurangabad, Jan 15:

The university administration has sought guidance from the joint director of the department of higher education on whether to reinstate the professors working on clock hour basis (CHB) in the aided and unaided colleges affiliated to the university in the year 2019-20.

Currently, most of the aided colleges in the division have about 60 to 70 per cent vacancies, while non-aided colleges have 97 per cent vacancies. In the interest of the students, the government should allow the filling of posts of professors on a clock hour basis. Many seats are vacant due to changing reservation regulations. This is having a negative impact on students. The government did not allow filling of posts on an hourly basis during the lockdown. Many subjects lack professors. Despite continuous follow up on recruitment, permission has not been obtained from the government yet.

In this regard, Dr Laxmikant Shinde during the senate meeting had requested the university administration to correspond with the government. Accordingly, the university has demanded in a letter that the joint director's office should follow up with the government regarding the recruitment of professors on an hourly basis considering the interest of students.
