Aurangabad, OCT 19: The sleuths of anti-corruption bureau (ACB) caught red-handed the chairman of Vaidyanath Urban Co-operative Bank Ashok Pannalal Jain (52), while accepting a bribe of Rs 10 lakh for increasing the limit of the complainant’s cash credit account to Rs 2.50 crore, at Mondha area of Parli Vaijnath in Beed district of Marathwada, today. An ACB team from Aurangabad conducted the raid.

The complainant, a 48-year-old grocery trader, had filed an application to increase the limit of his cash credit account in 2018.

When the complainant met Ashok Jain (52), the latter demanded Rs 15 lakh to get the work done. The complainant agreed to give Rs 10 lakh and promised to pay the remaining Rs 5 lakh after sanctioning the file. The complainant was not willing to give the bribe, so he lodged a complaint with the ACB.

The ACB sleuths confirmed the bribe demand on October 10. Accordingly, a trap was organised on Monday, and Jain was caught red-handed while accepting Rs 10 lakh. The ACB team recovered the amount from him.

Police inspector Ganesh Dhokrat and his team including sub-inspectors Vijay Brahamde, Sunil Patil and Milind Ippar, police constables Vilas Chavan and Changdev Bagul conducted the raid under the guidance of Aurangabad division ACB superintendent of police (SP) Dr Rahul Khade and additional SP Dr Anita Jamadar.
