Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar:

Approval has been granted to increase the speed of the Vande Bharat Express operating between Hazur Sahib Nanded and Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus. With the enhanced speed, travel time from Nanded will be reduced by 30 minutes, while passengers from Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar will save 20 minutes. The revised timetable will come into effect from May 3, and the train will run at a speed of 130 km per hour.

A large number of passengers from Nanded, Parbhani, Jalna and Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar travel to Mumbai. Due to the revised timings, passengers from Nanded will save 30 minutes, while those from Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar will save 20 minutes. As a result, minor changes of a few minutes will be made to the schedules of the Dharmabad–Manmad Marathwada Express at Manmad and the Hingoli–Mumbai Janshatabdi Express between Hingoli and Jalna stations.

Track strengthening and electrification

In 2023, approval was granted to operate trains at 130 kmph on 53 railway routes across the country, including the Jalna–Manmad route. To facilitate the speed enhancement, emphasis was placed on electrification as well as strengthening of tracks and points. At present, the Vande Bharat Express runs at a speed of 100 kmph.

When will a new Mumbai train be introduced?

Last August, the Vande Bharat Express was extended from Jalna to Nanded. It was then announced that a new train service from Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar to Mumbai would be introduced. However, its implementation is still awaited.
