Various parts in city face power failure

Aurangabad, Dec 20:

The Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Ltd (MSEDCL) for several years used to conduct the repairing and maintenance work on Friday. However, as the people were working from home and students attended online classes during the lockdown period. The repairing and maintenance works were done on Sunday. Hence, various parts of the city faced power failures almost for three hours today.

A few years back, the workers in the companies were given weekly off on Friday. Hence, the repairing and maintenance works were conducted on Friday. However, most of the companies are giving weekly off to the workers on Sunday now. Hence, there was a demanded from the industrial sector to undertake the maintenance works on Sunday.

Today, power supply was interrupted at Gajanan Maharaj Temple area, CADA Office area, Nandigram Colony, Chaitanyanagar, Jawahar Colony, Uttamnagar and other places for immediate repairs. Various works including cutting of branches and repairing was done between 11 am and 4 pm. The shopkeepers and traders however, had to face terrible inconvenience due to the power failure.

Meanwhile, the residents of Vyankateshnagar claimed that they are facing frequent power supply between 8 am and 8 pm. The students are incurring huge educational losses and hence the residents have demanded to install a new DP in this area. The residents, Balaji Pawar, Sadashiv Jadhav, Navnath Surase, Rajkumar Birajdar and others have submitted a memorandum in this regard.
