Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: Veteran tourist guide Mohammed Ali Hashmi, also known as Shamim Hashmi, passed away after a brief illness on Thursday. He was 78.

His Namaz-e-Janaza was offered at Sunehri Masjid in Nandanvan Colony late on Thursday evening, and the burial took place in the Shahnoormiyan Dargah campus graveyard in the early hours of Friday (1 am).

He is survived by his wife, educationist Dr (Mrs) Asmat Hashmi, and two daughters.
