A video of tehsildar Sanjay Devrai, who went to check illegal sand extraction from the Purna and Anjana rivers on the night of February 19, went viral on social media. Netizens trolled him, claiming he was drunk after he appeared to walk unsteadily in the video. Devrai shared the video on his administrative group, but an employee forwarded it to other groups, triggering the controversy. Devrai has strongly denied the allegations. "I went to the riverbed at midnight on SDO Latif Pathan's instructions. The wet riverbed made walking difficult, which has been deliberately misinterpreted to defame me. Sand smugglers and corrupt employees conspired against me after we seized sand worth Rs 2.83 crore 15 days ago.
