A series of thefts in Waluj MIDC has created fear among industrialists, with three cases reported in just three days, raising concerns over security arrangements. A fresh incident occurred at Automate Industries Coating Company in D Sector, Ranjangaon Shenpunji early Tuesday morning.

Four unidentified thieves entered the company, assaulted the security guard, tied his hands and feet, and looted goods worth Rs 4.90 lakh. Based on a complaint by industrialist Sanjay Kulkarni (57, Jyotinagar, Osmanpura, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar), a case has been registered at the MIDC Waluj police station. Police said the incident occurred between 3 am and 3.45 am, with accused arriving on motorcycles and restraining the guard before committing the theft. Stolen material includes 22,000 copper pieces worth Rs 2.45 lakh, 25 kg terminal worth Rs 2 lakh, and 30 kg yoke bridge worth Rs 45,000. The incident was captured on CCTV and is suspected to be planned. PSI Pravin Patharkar is investigating. Repeated thefts have triggered insecurity, with a delegation led by Massia Waluj president Gajanan Deshmukh meeting police inspector Rameshwar Gade demanding increased patrolling and strict action.
