In a major boost to the city’s water supply project, water from Jayakwadi has reached Farola, covering 27.7 km of the 38 km pipeline. On Sunday alone, 7 km was completed with a 3,700-horsepower pump operating from 9 am to 6 pm.

Since March 23, water has been pumped through the 2,500 mm diameter pipeline, clearing debris through scour valves. No technical issues were reported during recent tests. Officials said that if the current pace continues, water will reach the Nakshatrwadi water treatment plant by Tuesday or Wednesday. At Nakshatrwadi, purification trials of 100–150 MLD will begin, paving the way for regular supply. Two distribution pipelines are ready, while work on the third is pending.
