Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar:

Despite a special action plan being prepared last month to bridge gaps in the city’s water supply, its implementation has yet to materialise. Even in the peak of summer, residents in various localities receive water only once every eight to ten days. Once the water runs out, citizens are forced to rely on private tankers or purchase bottled water. People are being kept hopeful with promises of water from Jayakwadi, but it may take several more months before supply increases significantly.

After taking office, mayor Sameer Rajurkar had announced that he would focus on water supply and solid waste management. During a meeting with the water supply section, he instructed officials to plan the distribution of Jayakwadi Dam water to reduce supply gaps. Officials were told to submit a plan by February 25. Once the plan was submitted, the mayor advised officials to make improvements in the water distribution system and instructed them to ensure that citizens are not inconvenienced during summer.

Despite these directives, the supply gap persists. Residents are still receiving water only every eight to ten days. Questions remain whether the water supply section has taken any effective measures beyond submitting the plan. No concrete steps have been implemented to reduce the gap, leaving citizens to face severe water shortages in the height of summer.
