Chhatrapati Sambhahjinagar

Unseasonal rain that began around 6.30 pm on April 1 led to water accumulation inside the Chhatrapati Shivaji Nagar underpass by 8.30 pm, with nearly half a foot of water collecting on both sides. Motorists were forced to navigate through stagnant water.

The issue is linked to incomplete service road work above the underpass. One side has been left dug up, causing rainwater to collect in pits and seep through wall openings into the subway. On the Shivaji Nagar–Deolai stretch, garbage and slush accumulated, troubling pedestrians. Excavation for the Deolai-side service road near the railway track has remained unfinished, leading to large-scale water stagnation and seepage into the underpass walls. Similarly, pipeline work for drainage on the Shivaji Nagar side is incomplete, resulting in water buildup inside the pipes during the rain. Residents have warned that unless immediate corrective measures are taken, heavy waterlogging during the monsoon could force closure of the underpass.
