Oil marketing companies hiked regular petrol and diesel prices early Friday the first increase in four months. Amid the West Asia fuel crisis, prices rose Rs 3.14 per litre, with petrol now at Rs 108.32 and diesel at Rs 94.79 per litre in the city. The hike is expected to impact transport costs and essential commodity prices.

Power petrol, diesel prices also rise

Premium variants also saw hikes power petrol rose Rs 3.14 to Rs 94.78 per litre, power diesel by Rs 3.11 to Rs 100.03 per litre. Premium petrol had previously been revised on March 20 by up to Rs 2.08 per litre, affecting Speed, Power, and XP-95 variants.

Supply expected to improve

Petroleum Dealers Association president Akhil Abbas said supply has been slightly disrupted pumps with own tankers receive regular stock while those using hired tankers get alternate-day supply. He expects the price revision to stabilise supply.

Transport costs may rise by 10%

Transporters' association president Faiyyaz Khan warned freight charges could rise up to 10%, pushing up costs for grains, fruits, and vegetables arriving from other states.

Auto LPG prices to fall by Rs 21 today

Auto LPG prices had spiked from Rs 62 per litre in March to Rs 125 by April 3 due to supply disruption. With supply improving, rates are expected to drop Rs 21 on Saturday to Rs 104 per litre, said Dishaant Dayalani of the Auto LPG Pump Operators Association. Around 30- 40 tonnes of auto LPG are sold daily in the city.
