Aurangabad, July 22: A bench comprising of Justice S V Gangapurwala and Justice M G Sevlikar of the Aurangabad Bench of Bombay High Court on Thursday ordered the state government to submit an affidavit demanding an answer on when the vacancies in the state health department will be filled.

During the hearing, the state government stated that the remaining 50 per cent vacancies in the health department and all the newly created posts due to retirement, death etc. will be filled within six months. The next hearing of the petition is scheduled for August. In this regard, candidates from various parts including Kishore Bhaskarrao Khedkar from Chaklamba in Gevrai, Beed have filed a petition through adv Farooqui Mohammed Suhail. In February 2019, there was an advertisement for recruitment in the public health department. Applications were also called at the same time. The exams were postponed due to upcoming elections and the outbreak of covid in the state. On September 9, 2020, the Supreme Court granted stay on Maratha reservation. Therefore, the decision to fill 50 per cent seats was taken in the cabinet meeting. The examinations of the public health department was held after two years on February 28, 2021. The results were announced on April 19, 2021. On April 22-23, 50 per cent posts or 3,277 posts were filled. But no action was taken regarding the remaining 50 per cent vacant posts. Hence the petition was filed. Assistant public prosecutor Atul R Kale represented the government.
