Soyegaon: With gas cylinder shortages arising due to the ongoing war situation, rumours are circulating among retail kerosene licence holders in Soyegaon that the government may resume the supply of blue kerosene.

As a result, shopkeepers have begun scrambling to locate licences that have been gathering dust in cupboards for the past 10–12 years.

The supply of kerosene had virtually stopped a few years ago following the Ujjwala Gas Scheme and the widespread adoption of gas cylinders.

Now, a news item that the government is considering resuming kerosene distribution has spread rapidly, prompting licence holders in Soyegaon to dig out their old documents.

With the business stopped for years, shopkeepers are grappling with questions such as where the licence was kept, who holds it, and how to get it renewed. Some have begun visiting the tehsil office to inquire about when kerosene might become available.

However, Supply Officer Kakasaheb Sawale has clarified that no official instructions regarding the resumption of kerosene supply have been received by the supply department so far.
