Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar

In a daring burglary, unidentified thieves broke into a wine shop at the busy Tiranga Chowk on the Ahilyanagar highway in the Waluj industrial area and fled with cash and valuables worth nearly Rs 3 lakh. The incident occurred around 2 am on Sunday, triggering panic among local traders.

Police said the accused entered the shop in a planned manner by first making a hole in the security wall and then forcing open the shutter using a crowbar. Cash from the counter, silver idols and a mobile phone were stolen. The crime took place at a crowded junction with heavy round-the-clock vehicular movement, raising concerns over night-time security. The entire incident was captured on the shop’s CCTV cameras. The footage shows the accused with his face covered and attempting to wipe surfaces to erase fingerprints, suggesting he may be a habitual offender. The crowbar used in the theft was found at the spot. Police have launched an investigation, and a case was being registered at MIDC Waluj police station.
