With tearful eyes, people pay last respects to the urn

Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar:

The urn containing the ashes of the late Ajitdada Pawar was kept for public viewing at Deogiri College on Monday between 11 am and 1 pm. Citizens paid their respects with tearful eyes. Later, at around 2 pm, the ashes were immersed with due rituals in the Godavari river at Kaygaon Toka.

Deputy chief minister Ajitdada Pawar passed away in a plane crash at Baramati on January 28. His urn was placed for public homage at Deogiri College on Monday. A large number of city residents, office-bearers, party workers and students gathered to pay their respects. Many were visibly emotional as they offered homage.

Those present included MLC Satish Chavan, state president of the NCP doctors’ cell Dr Balasaheb Pawar, city president Abhijit Deshmukh, state president of the social cell prof Sunil Magre, Dilip Bankar, Pradeep Chavan, Deogiri College principal Dr Ravi Patil, Shankarrao Adsul, Kavita Shinde, Yogita Hoke Patil, Kunal Alfatwar, Mansi Bankar, Ketaki Nikam, Divya Mahagade, Shivani Dhepe, Shweta Chavan, Bhakti Uberhande, Dhanashree Mirtkar, Pratiksha Salve, Vaishnavi Mote and others. A large number of students from Deogiri College and the Shiva Trust-run Nursing College were also present.

Ash immersion at Kaygaon Toka

After the public viewing at Deogiri College, the ashes were immersed with due rituals in the Godavari river at Kaygaon Toka at around 2 pm. MLC Chavan, city president Deshmukh and Gangapur municipal council president Sanjay Jadhav, among others, were present on the occasion.
