Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: A 40-year-old woman was crushed to death on the Lasur Road near Siddhanath Wadgaon in Gangapur tehsil of the district on Saturday afternoon after a tanker hit her two-wheeler. The deceased woman has been identified as Aarti Bhagirath More.

Bhagirath More, a resident of Ambelohal at Gangapur, was carrying his daughter Aarti More on a two-wheeler (MH 14 HB 6740). Their two-wheeler collided head-on with an oncoming tanker (MH 50-2063) near Siddhanath Wadgaon around 12 noon today.

Aarti More came under the wheels of the tanker in the collision and died on the spot. The horrific accident sent shivers down the spines of the eyewitnesses. Upon receiving information about the accident, the Shillegaon police rushed to the spot and conducted a panchnama.

A case was registered against the tanker driver at the Shillegaon police station, and further investigation is underway. With the help of an ambulance driver and others, injured Bhagirath More was admitted to the Gangapur Sub-District Hospital.

The ongoing road resurfacing work on this road is progressing at a very slow pace, and there are potholes everywhere on the old road. As a result, minor and major accidents are constantly occurring on this road. Vehicle owners and citizens have demanded that the work be expedited, the potholes be filled immediately until the road is completed, and warning signs be installed at accident-prone areas.
