The Mukundwadi police had busted a racket of duping young men with the lure of fake marriages recently. Now, they have arrested a bride from another gang for duping men in the similar manner in the name of marriage. In the preliminary investigating, it has found that she had done such three fake marriages. The arrested bride has been identified as Vijaya Dinesh Amrute (27, Mukundwadi). Vijaya is married and has four years old son. She lost her job during the lockdown period and could not pay the house rent. Then she met a couple from Sillekhana, who ran a fake marriage racket, through a friend. They told her the way to earn instant money.
Meanwhile, the agent, Prakash Kharat searched bridegroom Yogesh Mahadu Shirsath Musandgaon in Sinnar tehsil of Nashik district, who was in search of a bride. Vijaya’s photo’s were sent to Yogesh. He came to Aurangabad and selected her as her future bride. He was told to give Rs 3 lakh. The amount included Rs 1 lakh for the marriage ceremony, Rs 1 lakh for the relatives and Rs 1 lakh for the agent. The groom party gave jewelry to Vijaya worth Rs 60,000. Later, she lived with Yogesh for ten days and did not return to her home. Her phone was also switched off. During the next one month, she duped a groom Sandeep Dadhade of Maraj in Karjat tehsil and took a huge amount from his family. She married to Sandeep on August 9.
When Yogesh came to know about it, he lodged a complaint at the Mukundwadi police station. PI, Sudhakar Bavkar, PSI Amol Mhaske, Kautik Gore and others arrested Vijaya on Saturday.
