Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar

Chain snatchers have grown increasingly audacious, moving from targeting women on foot to entering shops. In a Padegaon incident on Monday around 5 pm, two men on a two-wheeler entered a cosmetics shop in Bodhinagar and snatched a 16-gram gold chain from the owner, Sujata Dhivar (33, Mitmita), before fleeing towards Shanimandir. With over 80 chain-snatching cases reported last year, the persistence of such crimes has raised serious questions about police effectiveness. Chhawani police are investigating. Similar incidents have been reported from Satara, Jawaharnagar, Mukundwadi, Waluj and MIDC Waluj, following the same pattern of masked assailants using similar two-wheelers, yet the culprits remain untraced.
