Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: Women candidates who came to take the Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET) on Sunday, were insturcted to remove their all ornaments before making entry into the examination hall. They were even forced to remove not only their other ornaments but also their mangalsutras before entering the centre.

The administration maintained that this was done as per the rules. This led to chaos at the examination centre, with candidates wondering where they would keep their gold ornaments, as the rules prohibited them from carrying anything inside.

Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray) MLC Ambadas Danve criticised the government on social media regarding this incident, questioning whether the examination was held in India or Pakistan.

The CTET was conducted at various centres across the country, including Maharashtra. The examination was held in two sessions at 27 centres in the city. Entry to the centers began at 7.30 am. During the frisking, female candidates were informed that according to the rules mentioned on the hall ticket, ornaments, artificial jewellry, gadgets, and items containing magnets were prohibited.

The fact that even their mangalsutras had to be removed and left outside angered the women candidates. Their accompanying relatives also expressed their anger, asking who would be responsible if the expensive gold ornaments were lost.

However, the ornaments had to be left outside due to the rules. A total of 12,660 candidates appeared for the test at 27 centres. The afternoon session paper was conducted from 2.30 pm. to 5 pm.
